(Policy)

This site belongs to Michael Wilcock, a web designer and developer based in Manchester, UK. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. If you have any questions, email mikewilcock20@gmail.com.

The contact form

When you send a message, I receive your name, your email address, what you need, your budget if you give one, and your message. I use them only to reply to you and to talk about your project. They're stored securely in the site's database, and a copy is emailed to me. I keep enquiries for 12 months and then delete them, unless we go on to work together.

Analytics cookies

If you choose Accept on the cookie bar, the site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets two cookies, _ga and one starting _ga_, which last up to 2 years. I can't see who you are from this, and I don't use it for advertising.

If you choose Decline, no analytics cookies are set. Google may still receive basic, cookie-free signals, such as a page being viewed, which don't identify you.

Your choice is saved in your browser for 12 months. You can change it at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.

Other cookies and storage

The site doesn't use advertising cookies. It saves a few small preferences in your browser, such as your cookie choice and whether you've already seen the intro animation. These stay on your device. A login cookie is only set for people who manage the site.

Hosting and email

The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, to run it securely. Enquiry emails are sent by Resend, and analytics is provided by Google. These providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States, and offer the safeguards UK data protection law requires for transferring data, such as standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, or object to how I use it. Email mikewilcock20@gmail.com and I'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
